The Biomedical Informatics Group (IBIME) is part of the Institute for Applications of Advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ITACA Institute) located at the Technical University of Valencia (UPV), Spain.

IBIME is an interdisciplinary research group committed to biomedical computer science since its creation in 1999. The group focuses on real problems in the field of biomedical computer science that are raised by health professionals, health institutions and health administrations. IBIME has participated in many regional, national and European-funded projects and has a lengthy experience in the design, preparation and management of Computer Science Systems for Medicine. IBIME has also collaborated in private projects and agreements financed by hospitals and private companies.

IBIME is leaded by PhD Prof. Montserrat Robles Viejo.

The activities of IBIME include investigation as well as application development and are divided in the following specific areas:

Responsible: José Alberto Maldonado

Integration and normalization of biomedical data from distributed and heterogeneous biomedical databases into one integrated view to obtain a federated Electronic Health Record by applying CEN/TC 251 EN13606 architecture standards.

Responsible: Juan Miguel García-Gómez

Support to the biomedical research by means of advanced pattern recognition techniques, modelling, computational prediction and development of tools for biomedical data processing.

Responsible: José Vicente Manjón

Segmentation and representation of images in 3D (volume rendering), cerebral maps of perfusion, diffusion and functionality in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
